HOLBROOK — Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center Director Steve Hooke, Norwood Police Chief William Brooks, Norwood Fire Chief David Hayes and Town of Norwood General Manager Tony Mazzucco are pleased to announce that the HRECC will be adding the Norwood Police and Fire Departments to its list of partner agencies.
The HRECC and the Town of Norwood have entered into an Inter-Municipal Agreement for HRECC to answer 911 calls and provide dispatch services for Norwood.
“We look forward to providing our services to the Town of Norwood’s first responders and its residents this year, and we are thankful for our continued partnership with Chief Brooks, Chief Hayes and General Manager Mazzucco as we move forward,” Director Hooke said.
On March 28, HRECC will begin taking 911 calls (wireless direct, wireline and text-to-911) and will assume dispatch responsibility of Fire and EMS, as well as provide Emergency Medical Dispatch. HRECC will assume dispatch responsibility for the Norwood Police Department in September with the exact date still to be determined.
“We are very pleased to be entering into this partnership with HRECC and obtaining the great benefits that come with regionalization, like the standardization of dispatch protocols and increased personnel during busy times,” Chief Hayes said. “These benefits and others will truly help bring our communications and response efforts to a whole new level.”

HRECC will apply for funding through the State 911 Department. The grant, known officially as the FY24 Regional Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Secondary Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Emergency Communications Center Development Grant, would assist HRECC in funding the addition of the Norwood Police and Fire Departments.
“The Town of Norwood is thrilled to start working with HRECC and to join its long list of partner agencies in an effort to optimize our emergency communication efforts,” General Manager Mazzucco said. “HRECC is a leader in regional communication and we are very grateful for the support that they have provided throughout this process.”
HRECC currently serves 11 departments, including the recently added Norwood Police and Fire, across Norfolk, Plymouth and Middlesex counties. HRECC also serves the Norfolk County Technical Rescue Team and the Fire District 4 Control Point. HRECC most recently assumed dispatch responsibility for the Sherborn Police and Fire Departments.
