HRECC Deputy Director Lauren Mielke Named Atlantic Director of the Year

HOLBROOK — Director Steve Hooke is pleased to announce that the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center was honored with two awards from the Atlantic Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Professionals (APCO) recently.

The 2022 APCO Atlantic Chapter award winners were announced last week, and HRECC’s Deputy Director Lauren Mielke was named as the Atlantic Director of the Year. Additionally, HRECC Group C, led by Supervisor Kevin Austin, was named the Atlantic Team of the Year.

The Atlantic Chapter of APCO comprises agencies in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

“On behalf of the entire HRECC staff we congratulate Deputy Director Mielke on this tremendous honor that is so well deserved for all of the hard work and expertise she brings to the job every day, as well as to Group C for their tireless commitment to keeping our community members safe,” Director Hooke said. “We thank the APCO-Atlantic Executive Board and the 2022-2023 Chapter Awards Committee for recognizing Lauren and Group C with these awards, especially considering that the competition is among all of the high-quality communications professionals within the Atlantic Chapter.”

Deputy Director Mielke is responsible for supervising HRECC shift supervisors, evaluating and improving operations through personnel observation, and working proactively with supervisors to resolve performance or personnel issues. In addition, she oversees supervisor evaluations and equipment maintenance, assists in preparing the HRECC budget, and serves as a liaison between the HRECC and various town boards and committees services by the Center.

HRECC Group C includes Supervisor Kevin Austin and telecommunicators Joseph Ecord, Daniel McGaughey, Paul Bowler and James Roach.

The winners in the 2022 APCO Atlantic Chapter awards will be honored at the 2022 APCO Atlantic conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire from Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
