HOLBROOK — Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center Director Steve Hooke, Sherborn Police Chief Thomas Galvin and Sherborn Fire Chief Zachary Ward are pleased to announce that the HRECC will be adding the Sherborn Police and Fire Department to its list of partner agencies.

The HRECC will begin dispatch services for Sherborn in Fiscal Year 2023.

With the addition of Sherborn Police and Fire, the HRECC will now serve a total of 11 departments across Norfolk, Plymouth and (now) Middlesex counties, including Abington Police and Fire, Holbrook Police and Fire, Rockland Police and Fire, Sharon Fire, Canton Fire and Whitman Fire. This also includes the Fire District 4 Control Point.

The Sherborn Police and Fire Departments are the first new agencies to join the HRECC since the Center officially began to receive all 911 calls for the Town of Abington and assumed dispatch responsibility of the Abington Police Department in January of this year.

As part of the FY23 Development Grant application package through the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, in conjunction with the Massachusetts State 911 Department, the grant allowed the HRECC to apply for fees associated with providing dispatch services for the Sherborn Police and Fire Departments and in preparation to acquire the PSAP, effective January 2023.

This includes:

  • Dispatch assessment fees through the transition
  • Installing additional security measures at the Sherborn Police Department
  • Performing radio system upgrades as identified during a radio propagation study and needs assessment
  • Performing equipment upgrades at Sherborn PD and FD as identified in needs assessment

“We are very excited to be adding the Sherborn Police and Fire Departments to our list of partner agencies so we can assist Sherborn first responders in serving the residents of the town,” Director Hooke said. “We are extremely grateful to both departments for their cooperation during this process, as well as the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Massachusetts State 911 Department for making this grant funding possible.”
