The Holbrook Public Safety: Child Passenger Safety Program is supported through a joint effort between the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center and the Holbrook Police Department. The program was formed after Holbrook Police Officer Jeanine Matott and Holbrook Fire Department Dispatcher Joshua Himelrick went through the SafeKids national Child Passenger Safety Technician course in June 2009. The course was a four day class ending with a checkup event held on the final day in Brockton.
The program has completed more than 300 car seat inspections since the start of the program. Our program has served residents all over the South Shore, and as far north as Somerville and as far south as Cape Cod. The program has also been awarded $8000.00 worth of grant funding through the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPPSS) to date. The grant funding has been used to get more than 150 car seats! We recently received $1,500.00 to purchase car seats. Holbrook Public Safety Communications Supervisor Marion O’Donnell was recently certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians in September 2013.
